- Land Records:
Captain/Colonel Alexander Blackwood has E 1/2 Lots 50 & 51 of Hichingbrooke, Quebec; 100 acres + 140 acres in Hichingbrooke township. He moved to Franklin Centre with his parents in 1820. Former mayor of the town.
- Colonel Alex Blackwood & his wife suffered damage from a tornado on the evening of June 7 1874. It destroyed their kitchen wing, flattened all their outbuildings & blew the roof off the main part of the house.
Today, the road in Franklin Township that runs by what was their property is called Blackwood Road.
